Fused Glass Frame and Tile

Create a custom tile in glass as well as a picture frame to showcase it in! Or choose to keep the tile separate and design the frame for a favorite personal photo. You’ll learn all about the properties of glass fusion, glass-cutting techniques, how to use a glass grinder, and the proper adhesion techniques to create stunning works of art. Glass artist, Suzanne Balestri, will email you instructional videos beforehand so your mind can start working. All glass materials and one frame (4x6 or 5x7 opening) provided.

Glass Jewelry and More!

Join instructor Suzanne Balestri to learn the basics of Fused Glass and create your own glass jewelry to keep for yourself or give as a gift. This fun workshop offers a perfect introduction to Kiln-Formed (Fused) glass for beginners, and allows those who have already worked with glass to hone their abilities and finesse their skills. You will learn how fused glass differs from other forms of art glass, how to use the various tools involved in creating glass art, and how to cut and grind the glass you will be using in your wearable art. Using a colorful array of glass and pre-fired adornments, you’ll construct abstract or representational designs to be fashioned into earrings, pendants, rings, cuff links, even belt buckles! Each student will have plenty of space in the kiln to make several items! Your pieces will be fired in the kiln to completely fuse each design into one solid piece, and will be ready for you to pick up the following week.

$85 Workshop Fee (includes pre-workshop instructional videos, all glass, equipment, and kiln firing of several pieces)

+ $10 Supply Fee (cash only) due at workshop (includes pre-fused adornments plus jewelry findings for up to 3 items - excluding leather for bracelets/belts.) Additional findings, chains, cording, and leather for bracelets and belts will also be available for cash purchase.

Spring is soon approaching - celebrate by creating whimsical fused glass art for your garden or windows. Your bright and cheerful sun catchers and garden sticks will make your garden, indoor potted plants, or windows sparkle! Suzanne will guide you in glass cutting techniques and design considerations to create your own artful creations to compliment your garden or to display in a sunny window. Christmas Tree Pop-Ups

It’s time to get into the holiday spirit and create a Christmas Tree Scene to celebrate the season! Join Instructor Suzanne Balestri for this special class where you will create a fused glass Christmas tree scene (and stand). You’ll learn how to cut tree branch shapes, create glass tinsel, and use epoxy to make your scene pieces stand upright and be displayed on your mantel or table!

No previous glass experience needed and beginners are welcome! You’ll learn glass-cutting techniques as well as design tips to create seasonal art that is truly unique.  Suzanne has also prepared instructional videos that will be emailed to you before the workshop so you will have a head start learning about glass cutting & grinding techniques, as well as a class project preview.

If you’d prefer to make amazing holiday ornaments such as snowmen, penguins, Judaica, candles, wreaths, Christmas trees, elves, etc., Suzanne will guide you in creating one-of-a-kind holiday treasures. You’ll be able to make as many ornaments to fill 10 sq inches of kiln space OR make one Christmas Tree Pop Up!

No previous glass experience needed and beginners are welcome! Holiday Ornaments and Night Lights {SOLD OUT}

Adults and Teens of all levels are welcome! (Ages 8-12 years must be accompanied by an adult.) 

It’s time to get into the Winter spirit by creating Glass Ornaments or Night Lights for yourself or a special someone on your gift list! Join Instructor Suzanne Balestri on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to make holiday ornaments such as snowmen, penguins, Judaica, candles, wreaths, Christmas trees, elves, etc. Keep the season’s inspiration going, and design a nightlight to add a soft seasonal glow to any room. (Nightlight mechanism will be provided.) You’ll have a wide selection of glass colors, textures and patterns to create one-of-a-kind winter treasures. No previous glass experience needed. Suzanne will help you along the way, and will send you instructional glass cutting and grinding videos in advance of the workshop so you can become familiar with several techniques before class.

All glass art will be kiln-fired after class and ready for pick up at the Collective a few days later. 

A $10 (cash only) materials fee is due to the instructor at the start of the class.

Flex Your Freedom In Glass

Join Instructor Suzanne Balestri on Veteran’s Day for a fun day in the Glass Studio creating fused glass art that YOU want to create. The sky’s the limit with options such as wall vases, coasters, trays, plates, decorative tiles, and/or cabochons for jewelry pieces, etc. *New to warm glass art? No problem. A 30-minute Fusing Basics and Glass Cutting Demonstration for beginners will be at 10am. All students will receive video links to demonstrations prior to the class so you can become familiar with several techniques before getting to work. If you’ve taken a fused glass class previously, this is a great opportunity to hone your skills and challenge yourself! You’ll have access to a large selection of glass and embellishments and project ideas and templates will be provided for those who desire a more structured format. You are welcome to create art that requires additional firing (slumping) to curve your glass art.

Note:  There is an additional $15 cash-only supply / slumping fee due at the workshop.  Long pants and closed-toe shoes recommended. Your glass art will be kiln-fired after class and ready for pick up at FSA in approximately one week, or you can arrange for your completed project to be shipped to you.

Kaleidoscope Trays & Holiday Ornaments

Join Instructor Suzanne Balestri and learn how to use an array of colored glass in organic shapes to create a stunning one-of-a-kind tray.  Small, kaleidoscope-like clusters of colors in a mosaic pattern create bold, whimsical designs in fused glass.  But you are not limited to this project — you may also choose to create a set of holiday ornaments! Suzanne will guide you in glass-cutting techniques and design considerations to ensure the texture and definition around each color is maintained.  You'll have access to a large selection of colored glass and embellishments. Tray creations will go through two firings in the kiln - the first firing fuses all the glass layers and pieces into one solid piece. The second firing is to slump your fused piece into a ceramic mold of your choosing to take the form of that mold. Beginners welcome! Ages 13 and up. Note:  If you choose to do the tray, there is a $10 (cash only) slumping fee due at the workshop. If doing ornaments only, there is no additional fee.

Anything goes in this workshop as you select glass from a wide range of colors and materials to create one-of-a-kind holiday treasures. No previous glass experience needed, and Suzanne will help you along the way.. She will also send you instructional glass cutting and grinding videos in advance of the workshop so you can become familiar with several techniques before getting to work.

Fee: $85 (+ $5 cash-only materials fee due at workshop). Includes pre-workshop video instruction links, all glass, high-fire fusible hooks, 1 nightlight mechanism if desired, and pre-fired glass embellishments. Fused Glass Jewelry Workshop

Fused Glass Jewelry Workshop

Gorgeous fused-glass jewelry makes stunning and unique gifts… but we won’t tell anyone if you want to keep them all for yourself!  Join Instructor Suzanne Balestri for this amazing class and learn the process of designing and creating fused glass pendants, rings, bracelets, earrings, cuff links, and even belt buckles! You will be guided in how to form a channel between layers of glass to allow for a chain for pendants or wire for earrings.  Suzanne will also teach you about high-fire wire that can be embedded in the glass to create hooks as well as how to adhere your art to leather or metal backings, allowing you for spectacular design possibilities! Each student will have up to 10 square inches of space in the kiln to create several pieces.  

Note:  There is a $15 (cash only) materials fee due at the workshop.

Class fee includes: pre-workshop instructional videos, all glass, equipment, and kiln firing of several pieces. Jewelry findings for up to 3 items is also included, but additional findings, chains, cording, and leather for bracelets and belts will also be available for cash purchase.

Flex Your Freedom In Glass

Join Instructor Suzanne Balestri for a fun day in the glass studio at Fallbrook School of the Arts creating fused glass art that YOU want to create.  The sky’s the limit with options such as wall vases, coasters, trays, plates, decorative tiles, etc.

New to warm glass art?  No problem. Suzanne begins with a “Fusing 101” lesson and glass cutting demonstration.  Plus, you’ll receive video links to demonstrations prior to the class so you can become familiar with several techniques before getting to work.  If you’ve taken a fused glass class previously, this is a great opportunity to hone your skills and challenge yourself!  You’ll have access to a large selection of glass and embellishments, and project ideas and templates will be provided for those who desire a more structured format.  You are welcome to create art that requires additional firing (slumping) to result in curved glass art.

Note:  There is an additional $15 cash-only supply / slumping fee due at the workshop.  Long pants and closed-toe shoes recommended. Your glass art will be kiln-fired after class and ready for pick up at FSA in approximately one week, or you can arrange for your completed project to be shipped to you.

Fused Glass Garden Sticks

Spring is in the air, and your windows, potted plants, and gardens need some bling! Learn the basics of Kiln-Formed (“Fused”) Glass and create your own glass art to beautify your indoor and outdoor spaces!! This fun “mini” workshop gives you a light introduction to fused glass. You will learn how it differs from other forms of art glass, what tools are used in creating a basic piece, and how to cut and grind the glass you will be using in your project. 

You will then create your pieces using a colorful array of provided glass and embellishments that you will adhere onto your glass “canvas”. Your pieces will be fired in a glass kiln to completely fuse your design into one piece, and will be ready for you to pick up the following week.  

Class fee includes all materials, equipment, and kiln firing for two pieces. Additional sun catchers or garden sticks can be made for $10 each (payable with cash during class). Beginners welcome! Ages 13 and up.

Vacation Getaways in Glass

Come create a glass art tile or hanging plaque that expresses your favorite vacation getaway, especially if you haven’t been able to experience a real one in the last couple of years! Where would you go? What would you do? Camping in nature, golfing, wine tasting, or relaxing on a beach in Hawaii? Let your imagination take you away!

You will be guided as needed in glass cutting techniques and design considerations and will have access to a large selection of glass - transparent, opaque, frit, stringers, noodles, etc. All materials are included to create one plaque (approx. 8” sq.) If you’d like your art to be transformed into a curved dish, there’s an additional $10 due at the workshop to “slump” your project into a form during a second kiln firing. Beginners welcome! Ages 13 to Adult.

All projects will be fired in our kilns and available for pick-up approximately one week after class at the Fallbrook School of the Arts. If you are not local, other arrangements can be made to get your project to you.
